Windows 10 has a small variety of cursor themes that you can choose from. The cursor variety attempts to make it easier to see on a screen and they may or may not do the trick for you. If the set of cursors on macOS are more appealing, you can install them on Windows 10. Here’s how you can get the macOS cursor on Windows 10.
macOS cursor on Windows 10
Cursors are not a single image. In fact, it’s best to think of a cursor as an entire theme with different images for different states that your cursor indicates for example, the pointer, the wait/delay, the caret, etc.
In order to get the macOS cursor on Windows 10, you need to download this file from DeviantArt. Extract the zipped file and open it. Inside, you’ll find a file called install.inf. Right-click it and select Install from the context menu. You won’t get any visual indication that the cursor has been installed but it will install within a few seconds.
Once you’ve installed the cursor, you need to enable it. Open the Settings app and go to the Devices group of settings. Select Mouse, and click the Additional mouse options.
In the window that opens, go to the Pointers tab. Open the Scheme dropdown and select ‘El Capitan’ from the list of schemes. Click Apply, and then OK.
‘); if (navigator.appVersion.indexOf(“Mac”)!=-1) document.write(”);
The cursor on your system will now mimic the ones you get on macOS. The screenshot below shows the beach ball cursor that you see on macOS when the system is busy.
As you use your system more, you will see other cursors from macOS appear as well. If you later decide the default cursors were better for you, you can change the cursor scheme back to the default one.
To change the cursor scheme, navigate to the same Mouse Properties window, go to the Pointer tab, and open the dropdown under Schemes again. Select one of the schemes that are titled ‘Windows’.
To uninstall this cursor, simple visit the Mouse Properties window and click the Delete button with the scheme selected.
If neither the macOS nor the default Windows 10 schemes are good enough for you to work with, you can look for more schemes online. There’s no shortage of them and many are free. Installing the cursor scheme is more or less the same. Some scheme files may contain a script for installation, while others might contain an EXE file. If you install a cursor from an EXE file, you will have to uninstall it from the Control Panel.
